Modern Living - Outdoor Collection

The warm summer temperatures (which I’m not at all complaining about after our long winter!) make these photos from Modern Home especially inviting.

When designing your  outdoor living space you can tie everything together and make your spaces feel more generous by carrying your interior decorating style forward to the outdoors.
Choose furniture that fits your personal style, whether it is contemporary or more traditional.  Sounds so trivial, but I have seen SO many homes where the interior is decorated in a clean, quiet contemporary style and the outdoor furniture is an assortment of big-box-store flowered cushions on ornate iron chairs and sofas. On a budget? Build  your own simple benches and of wood and decorate them with colorful throw pillows or spruce up garage sale finds with just the perfect paint for your outdoor color palette.Choose a matching or contrasting palette to your interior colors and similar decorative touches like   fabrics, pillows and even curtains  for your patio to really create that cozy, inviting feel of a living area.
Begin with the colors that are currently present in and around your home and go from there.
Starting from scratch?
Begin by creating a focal point such as a  fire pit or a water feature or choosing an already existing feature like a  gazebo.  Build very comfortable deep seating arrangements or a main dining area around this.
Sometimes colorful new seat cushions and coordinating fabrics and  paint  is all it takes to tie several areas together .
Plantings, decorative shrubs and perennials and all the choices of potted plants and hanging baskets to bring life to your outdoor area and are a great way of adding color.
